Warning: public matchmaker notes

On SawYouAtSinai, a matchmaker can leave notes about you which are viewable to hundreds of other matchmakers. I confirmed this with them, after multiple tries and threats. Do they tell you about this beforehand? Not really. I found on the SYAS Matchmaker User Agreement that the “private notes” of a matchmaker will be removed if he or she leaves SYAS. And although the agreement indemnifies SYAS from liability on matchmaker actions, I didn’t see anything on the document which states that SYAS will provide a forum for a matchmaker’s “private” notes to be viewable by other matchmakers. (That’s not even what the word means!) I also don’t see such a thing on the SYAS Member User Agreement.

SYAS told me that the notes are no longer viewable once a member leaves the site, but I found it hard to completely remove my profile, and a woman who wrote a piece on this claimed that notes on her “disabled” profile remained accessible to matchmakers. Let’s assume SYAS told me the complete truth on this one point, it still doesn’t cover the main issue.

Here’s the aforementioned article that a woman wrote about this: https://blogs.timesofisrael.com/the-lashon-hara-of-saw-you-at-sinai-matchmaker-notes/ (Read the full review)

SeeYouInHell, Sucker! ---- That's what they should call it.

I've already written a very detailed comment about SYAS (SawYouAtSinai) under someone else's review, so I'll keep it fairly brief here.

I've been a paid (gold) member of SawYouAtSinai, on & off, for years now. As a single Jewish male, I've found that the women who are registered on this website don't take the whole matchmaking idea seriously, and I've questioned the legitimacy of the entire website, since there's no screening, no replies to messages I've left to the management, and the matchmakers simply won't call me by phone to address any of the issues with the site that I've been having.

When you're given a match, it will either timeout (but you'll have to wait 5 days to find that out -- great business tactic if you're paying by the month), or you'll be rejected, or your "mutual match" won't have any enthusiasm to speak with you (for example, you'll call and you either won't reach her for days, assuming the number she provided the website with is even in service, and not someone else's, or she'll make up some excuse why she's busy, but never get back to you).

You'll modify your photos, your profile, your preferences, but nothing will... (Read the full review)

What a Scam!

I joined and never heard from anyone. My original matchmaker dropped me without ever contacting me. Second matchmaker never made contact with me. I wrote to their customer service with the hopes someone would contact me. Their response was refunding my money and promptly saying they could not find me one single potential match. Don't join unless you want to set yourself up for disappointment. They do not provide the services they claim to provide. You would be better off saving your time and money and finding another site.

In summary, I would not recommend Saw You at Sinai to a friend.

They do not use proper screening

If we could find through online research a court case that called the groom's behavior "outrageous, callous, wanton and malicious" why couldn't Meet Me at Sinai find it ? I don't think they looked. His business got terrible reviews with the BBB. Reviews talked about unscrupulous business practices similar to the one outlined in the law suit which resulted in a substantial judgement against him. Don't assume any proper screening has been done or your life may be ruined too.

In summary, I would not recommend Saw You at Sinai to a friend.
