Editor's Verdict:

JSingles is a feature-packed dating service for Jewish singles around the world; fourteen countries in fact.  The homepage is clean, accessible and well laid out.  It highlights new articles on the Jewish religion and dating, and also displays new profiles and a selected featured member which changes every few minutes.  The photos are of good quality, and it does appear to be well regulated.  Signing up for free allows you to create a profile, browse, receive instant messages and search for singles in your area. 

The advanced search facility on JSingles is very comprehensive with 39 criteria.  Some of these are a little different to the other sites, adding a personal touch, such as 'friends describe me as', 'social behavior' and 'type you are attracted to'.  The profiles are similarly honest and readable and give you a good starting point when deciding whom to contact.  JewishSingles has all the fancy features like 'flirts' to test the water, and paying members can also create a 'little black book' which allows you to share more personal information with other members, and get to know them better.

The FAQ/help page covers all the usual technical queries and is comprehensive without bogging you down with too much information.  There is even a live help chat line where customer services can help you through your query.  There is a facility for blocking or reporting members, and all profiles are checked for inappropriate behavior.  A feature called 'invisible mode' allows you to brows the site anonymously.  Other people will not be able to see your online status and you will not be listed under 'who's online'.  

JSingles send you e-mails of appropriate matches as they come up and full members can go online to chat by instant messaging or on the forums.  Unfortunately the site seems a little quiet which explains its place in the top ten listing here.  You can keep check of your status, i.e. who's viewed your profile, numbers of favorite members, numbers of members currently online and access chat facilities through a handy tool bar on the right.  This is a lot easier to use than some of the other sites in this category, some of which are clogged up with adverts.

JSingles says on the homepage that the site is 100% free.  This could be interpreted wrongly, as it just means you can sign up for free with limited access, like most websites in this category.  Watch out after signing up that you don't get charged every month at the higher fee.  After your three day trial for $2.95, if you do not cancel or choose the monthly $19.95 subscription option, you will be charged the higher rate of $24.95.

This is a lovely clean user-friendly site with a nice variety of profiles jostling for your attention.  In this competitive numbers game JSingles may have lost out to the bigger sites, but you never know what (or who!) you might be missing, so give JSingles a try.
